Tile Installation
Precision tile installation for floors, showers, backsplashes, and custom feature walls — done right down to the substrate.
Kaje Construction provides professional tile installation in Toms River, NJ and throughout Ocean County and beyond, including Brick, Toms River, Manchester, Berkeley Township, Jackson, and Lakewood. Tile work is one of the most deceptive trades in construction. Done cheaply, it looks fine for a year or two — then the grout cracks, the tiles pop, and water works its way into places it was never supposed to reach. Done correctly, a tile installation from Kaje Construction will outlast the rest of the house and look as sharp in 20 years as it did the day we finished.
The difference is almost entirely in what you never see. Every tile project we take on starts with a thorough evaluation of the substrate. Concrete backer board must be properly gapped and screwed at the right intervals. Membranes must fully bond without air pockets. Shower pans require a correctly sloped mortar bed — typically 1/4 inch per foot toward the drain — or a certified pre-sloped foam pan, never a flat base covered with tile and wishful thinking. We use Schluter KERDI, RedGard, and other industry-leading waterproofing systems on every wet area, every time. No exceptions.
Waterproofing is the most critical and most commonly skipped part of tile work. A shower wall that isn't properly waterproofed doesn't leak right away — it leaks into the wall cavity slowly, silently, feeding mold and rot for years before the damage becomes visible. By then, it's a $10,000 remediation project. Our waterproofing applications are done in full, with corners reinforced with fabric membrane and transitions sealed properly. We flood test shower pans before tiling, so you know before a single tile goes down that the system works.
Beyond waterproofing, our tile setting uses the right thinset for each application — large-format tiles require modified mortar with proper back-buttering to achieve full coverage, not just a few ridges. Grout joints are consistent, lippage is minimal, and pattern layouts are planned from the center of the room or shower to ensure symmetrical cuts at all edges. No half-sliver tiles hidden in corners — every installation is planned to look intentional.
From simple 12x12 floor tile to large-format 24x48 porcelain slabs, intricate mosaic accent bands, and custom herringbone patterns, Kaje handles it all with the same uncompromising attention to the details that matter most.
We use only the highest-quality materials available and never cut corners at any level; every decision is made to ensure durability, safety, and lasting value.
